Free Image Crop Online: Full-Resolution Crops With No Upload

Drag the box to move it and drag the corner to resize it. The crop is exported at the image's full original resolution.

Short answer

Choose an image, pick a ratio (1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16 or freeform), drag the box over the area you want and download the crop at the image's full original resolution as PNG, JPG or WebP. The image is processed in your browser and never uploaded, and there's no watermark.

03 — Guide

How to crop an image online step by step

  1. Open the image

Click 'Choose an image' or drag a file onto the box. Large phone photos (12–48 MP) work fine because everything happens locally.

  2. Choose the ratio for where it will be used

Use 1:1 for profile pictures, 4:5 for Instagram feed posts, 9:16 for stories, Reels and TikTok, and 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails (1280×720) and slides. Choose Free for custom shapes.

  3. Position the crop using composition rules

Drag the box to move it and the corner handle to resize it. Place eyes about a third from the top. Leave space in the direction a subject is looking or moving.

  4. Set the output size and format, then download

Leave the width empty to keep full resolution, or enter, for example, 1080 for social media. Use JPG for photos, PNG for screenshots and graphics with text, and WebP for websites (often 25–35% smaller than JPG).

04 — FAQ

Common questions

Does cropping reduce image quality?

Cropping itself keeps the remaining pixels as they are. The crop has fewer pixels than the original, so enlarging it later looks softer. Re-saving as JPG adds slight compression; this tool exports JPG at 92% quality, which is visually lossless for most photos.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is read and cropped by your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server, so it's safe to use with personal or confidential photos.

What size should a profile picture be?

Use a square 1:1 crop of at least 400×400 px (YouTube recommends 800×800). Platforms display it in a circle, so keep the face centred with some margin.

Is this image cropper free?

Yes. It's free with no watermark, no account and no limit on the number of images.

Scores reflect our own assessment of free-tier value. Prices and limits change, so check them on each provider's site before you buy.
